The First African American Baseball Team
Organized by a Las Vegas local Henry Wilson in nineteen twenty-five, the Las Vegas Tigers were the first all African-American baseball team with its roots in the Las Vegas Valley. Best known for their game against a Union Pacific Railroad team, the Las Vegas Tigers ushered in the new age of local sports, paving the way for the many well-known Afican-American athletes that followed. Like most great things, the Las Vegas Tigers helped plant the seed for the later great achievements, serving as a reminder to us all that even the smallest victories can have a large impact.
