Founders of KAVA, the Newmans marked the foundation of colored radio here in Las Vegas. Promoting their station to be the “Cool Voice of Vegas,” Evelyn and CY Newman helped give the listeners of the valley a little something more to listen to. A large part of celebrating Black History Month is the remembrance of those who helped to change the world. Changing the radio industry as it was known to Las Vegas, bringing in a new, cool voice, were Cy and Evelyn Newman, and we say thank you.
